Read what the record actually identifies
Check the name, record category and current status shown by the official source. If the company uses a different trade name, ask how it relates to the legal entity. A similar name is not a confirmed identity, and a record for an individual should not be silently treated as confirmation of every company or service claim.
If information does not match or the search is unclear, ask the provider and the responsible agency for clarification before relying on it. Do not assume that a missing search result proves wrongdoing, but do not fill the gap with a reassuring guess either.
Verification is one part of the decision
A licensing record does not establish today's availability, price, insurance scope, experience with a particular appliance or suitability of a proposal. Ask about those items directly and request the relevant documentation where appropriate. Keep the actual work scope and payment terms in writing.
